| PRAYER FOR BLUEPOINT Our Gracious, Loving Father:
Ten months ago, we asked You for Your blessing on these young men and women who started a journey of faith and adventure by bringing a new kind of alternative low-cost technology known as Linux to some places and cities in the Philippines. They are about to complete that journey today here in Lyceum Manila and we are especially grateful to You, dear Lord, for bringing these young people home, with all the experiences and the knowledge they have gained and for the new lessons they have learned which they can share with us. The Scripture teaches us that we may have knowledge and understand all mysteries, but if we have no love -- love for You and for those who are in need -- we are no more than a tinkling cymbal. And so, in this Christmas season of grace and peace and love, teach us to be more kindly and thoughtful, more generous and more compassionate toward those of our people who are poor and weak and helpless. Even as we look forward to a New Year of pilgrimage, help us to realize we have a lot left to do -- many songs of praise to be sung, many roads to be traveled and many risks to face in a country wracked by massive poverty and corruption, and rent by bitter partisan politics and by unending crisis. Help us always to know the difference between right and wrong, between truth and falsehood, between goodness and evil, so that amidst all the uncertainties that confront us, we can be sure we are with You and Your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen. Jovito R. Salonga Bluepoint Institute of Higher Technology Foundation December 5, 2003, Lyceum Manila |
